Didn't mean to give you a History lesson □. Also, western products live upto their names,so,thats that. ![]() The marketing idea generally exists because native Asian products are not manufactured in proper conditions. I know that Japan was itself not colonized but after world War 2, Japan was in such a bad state under the semi- colony of Americans that they started worshipping them(sorta). Though linguistic chauvinism did exist, the feeling that we are down never really went away. To put it simply, during colonization, the British tried to take hold of the land by putting the respective countries' culture and language down. ![]() You won't find this kind of behaviour in popular tourist places like Hong Kong or so.Īs for Japan, every non-English speaking Asian country has an affinity towards English speakers. Therefore, when they see someone foreign, they become excited to know and see more of them. Most asians donot leave their homeland to go,settle in overseas. So they may make more changes to our boys, which makes me slightly apprehensive. For example, I think that a large part in why they changed some of the boys voices is that they possibly didn't test well with their Japanese testers/players. And I'm also interested in if they will continue catering more to the western audience, if it will be more evenly divided, or if it will cater more to the Japanese audience. For sure there are some that are there that go or have gone over my head! I'm interested to see what changes if any are made to the Japan official version. (The campaign announced in the video has ended. For example, telling the boys to "stays like dogs is possibly a reference to inuyasha and I'm not sure how much of the western audience they could count on getting the Japanese popculture references. This is the MyAnimeList x MangaPlaza x Obey Me The Boys in the House Special We've collaborated with MyAnimeList to bring you a live reading of Obey Me Misadventures and Obey Me The Comic by Obey Me's voice actors. I also think its worth thinking of the references to japanese culture (summer festival event for example), snacks, and anime/manga that are sprinkled in the game. Maybe it's because I live in a small city but there's not many people in my area that I would expect to be interested in a game like this, especially with voice acting in another language. that was not only marketed to but did very well in the western market. There's definitely something to be said about a game in Japanese, based in Japan, etc. ![]()
